MP's Guide to: Finding the Perfect Fit

A Complete Jewellery Size Guide for Every Piercing

Where can I wear my jewellery?

Most body jewellery can be used in more than one piercing area. That's the great thing about jewellery, the possibilities and styles are endless! We've put together this size guide that can help you choose the perfect-fit items from our store, however, for the most comfortable fit, safety and style, please ensure you know your exact piercing sizes. If unknown, it is best to consult with a local piercer.

What jewellery is recommended for fresh piercings?

When getting a new piercing, choosing the right size is crucial for proper healing. Initially, looser fit jewellery is recommended to allow airflow and reduced pressure on the pierced area. Proper cleaning is also required for new piercings to reduce any risk of infection.

The Perfect Fit

Once your piercing has fully healed, opt for jewellery that is a better fit and of quality materials to avoid risk of reaction. A tighter fit jewellery piece can also be worn for a more polished look, reduced movement and less snagging. Always check with your piercer before transitioning to tighter jewellery.

Start with a slightly longer bar and downsize after healing is complete. Most piercers offer resizing services. Downsizing can allow the stud to sit flush against your skin, giving your jewellery a sleek look without a visible gap.
By choosing the correct gauge and length, you’ll ensure your jewellery sits comfortably and securely while promoting proper healing and long-term wearability.

When choosing hoop jewellery, measure the distance (using a ruler or calipers) from the piercing hole to the outer edge of the area where the hoop will rest. Add 1-2mm if you prefer a looser fit or if the area swells slightly during healing

If you're sizing up on Plugs or Tunnels, always stretch gradually and use lubricants such as Jojoba oil or tapers to prevent tearing or blowouts. Choose a plug material appropriate for stretching, like surgical steel or glass, as they are non-porous and easy to clean.
