Anti-tragus piercings are becoming increasingly popular with the option to choose between studs and hoops for this piercing, the style possibilities are endless and a great way to add some flare if worn alone or stacked up with other ear piercings.
JEWELLERY: Flat-back Studs, Segment Clickers, Captive Bead Rings (BCR's), Horseshoe Barbells (CBB's), Curved Barbells
STANDARD SIZE: 16G (1.2mm), and occasionally 18G (1.0mm) Thickness & 6-10mm bar length or inner diameter.
DOWNSIZE: 6-8mm is standard bar length and hoop diameter after healing for snug fit or if you prefer more fine jewellery choices, 6mm bar length/hoop diameter.
HEALING TIME: Anti-tragus piercings take 6-9 months to fully heal, with initial healing times ranging from 3-6 months. The thicker tissue in this area means a longer healing time than the standard lobe piercing.
PAIN LEVEL: Again, pain level is relative to each individual but a general rule of thumb is that the thicker the tissue area of the piercing the more painful. Anti-tragus piercings can be in the middle of the scale ranging from 5-7/10 on the pain scale.
AFTERCARE: Clean your piercings 2-3 a day with Saline solution and restrain from twisting and fiddling with the piercing which can irritate the area. Try not to sleep on the side of the piercing, allowing room for healing and air so the area is not closed off for long periods of time.
PRO-TIP: Stacking takes time! As much as you want your ear curation to look amazing filled with jewellery as fast as possible, it is always best not to get too many ear piercings in a single ear in one go. Leave room for each piercing to heal and build up your stack gradually and safely.
